• Adds more character to landscaping than other ground alternatives (Pick from the five standard colors, or create your own ‘Personal Shell Color’)
• Shell is a by-product from Florida mining. No trees are harmed in the production of our product.
• Maintains appearance longer. Shell will not wash out or float away.
• Reduce cost. Different than standard landscaping products, Shell DOES NOT need to be replaced, just re-colored with ‘water based’ natural coloring. This means you SAVE!
• Safe for kids and pets (Insects, vermin, and mold can make other mulches a nightmare, so they must be changed at least twice a year; NOT SHELLSCAPE SHELL!!!)
• Offers superior durability over currently offered products.
• Allows better water flow and drainage.
• Releases nutrients that plants need; including calcium and phosphates!
• Color of product can be maintained through spray application instead of entire product replacement via 100% safe and easy field application.
• Does not provide a natural habitat for insects or other vermin. Regular mulch may look nice but it actually attracts insects, SHELL does not.
• Natural fertilizer for trees and shrubs.
• Can be applied around fruit and vegetable plants; where other ground alternatives CAN NOT.
• Moderates soil-temperature fluctuations by insulating the soil surface; according to The University of Rhode Island College of the Environment & Life Sciences.
• Holds in soil moisture, protecting your plants from drying out quickly.
• Keeps fruit and vegetables clean - A layer of SHELL reduces the chances of fruit and vegetables getting dirty from splashes from the soil below, which can spread soil born disease.
• Inhibits weed germination and growth. (Weeds are not only unsightly, but they also steal resources from your plants!)

WOOD or BARK CHIPS Pine bark mulch is fairly acidic; if you apply too deeply (over 3”), or apply a deep layer up against tree and shrub trunks, you may create a hiding spot for a bark-damaging rodents, especially during winter.
COMPOST Makes a good place for weeds to take hold; fresh compost (especially if it contains manure or grass clippings) can burn plants.
LANDSCAPE FABRIC (Garden Plastic, Black Plastic)
Watering and feeding is hard (you need to cut openings for plants); can be difficult to apply unless you’re doing an entire area at one time; isn’t very attractive.
RUBBER (Shredded Recycled Car Tires)
Can smell strongly of rubber; provides no nutritional benefits to the soil.
PEAT MOSS Can be expensive; if dry, will repel water; becomes crusty over time.
GRAVEL, PEBBLES, or STONE Can allow weeds to sneak through; provides no benefits to the soil.
